Paper mache

In 2017 I flew from Alaska to Canada for my 6 months-long Working Holiday Visa. I’ve been traveling in a van which was also my workshop on wheels. I was creating little decorative objects made of paper mache, to then sell them at the local markets. Paper mache is an inexpensive, easy way to make modeling paste. I had practiced with it while studying in Venice, and it became one of my favorite materials.

At that time, my favourite subject was snails. I’d create the shape of a snail with clay, then make a cast with plaster, so that I could make several paper mache snails to paint differently.

When I left Canada, I donated some of these objects to homeless people who could offer it in exchange of charity.
