Discarded paint and scrap materials

Recyke-a-bike, a charity in Stirling (Scotland) was looking to get some environmentally friendly art at their premises, so they contacted me through the environmental charity I used to work for.

This mural is made entirely with discarded paint that I personally rescued from landfill, plus I added some broken bike chains and bike tubes to make the flowers.

The focus of this charity is on rescuing old bikes, often diverting them from landfill. They repair them, or use parts, and offer bikes for sale to the local community at affordable prices. My bike also comes from their shop. They also offer courses on cycling and safety, often for free.

The charity asked me to include some words, with particular emphasis on the word “charity”, to make it clear for visitor that their shop wasn’t just a regular bike shop.
